Have you ever been raped or abused.Coweta Pregnancy Services exists to offer help and hope.
• One out of six women have been victims of attempted or completed rape in their lifetime. • In 2002, there were 247,730 victims of sexual assault. • Up to 4,315 pregnancies may have resulted from these attacks.
Rape is not a sex crime, but a crime of violence. It is an act of power and control, in which the victim is humiliated, degraded, and left with feelings of shame, self-blame and anger. If you say “no” and the assault continues it is rape!
What to do if you are raped: 1. SAFETY: go to a place you feel safe; friends, home or here at Coweta Pregnancy Services. 2. MEDICAL: Seek medical attention immediately for possible internal injuries and STD treatment. Evidence collection is available at the Emergency Department. 3. DO NOTS: Don’t bathe, change clothes, urinate, drink or eat before evidence collection if possible. 4. LEGAL: Contact law enforcement (reporting does not mean you must prosecute). 5. SUPPORT: Call us here at the Coweta Pregnancy Services, 770-251-5158. 6. REMEMBER: it’s NOT your fault.
